FIGHTING TIGER TRACK & FIELD SETS RECORDS AT CARDINAL INVITE
The SUNY Cobleskill indoor track & field program opened the 2005-06 season with record setting performances at the 2005 Cardinal Invitational hosted by Wesleyan University on Saturday in Middletown, CT. The meet was a non-scoring qualifying meet with Cobleskill as the only two-year program in the field.
On the women’s side of the meet senior NJCAA All-American Leslie Martin, Hudson Falls, NY, Hudson Falls High School, set three individual team records for the Fighting Tiger women’s indoor track & field program on Saturday at the 2005 Cardinal Invitational hosted by Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT. Martin won the High Jump with a mark of 5’2” and the 55 Meter Hurdles with a time of 8.76 seconds while placing third in the 400 Meters with a time of 1:02.53.
Martin was also a part of the Fighting Tigers 4 X 400 Meter Relay that place third in the meet in a new program record time of 4:32.83 along with teammates freshman Teresa Cox, Bellport, NY, Bellport High School, freshman Kaylan Ostrander, Queensbury, NY, Queensbury High School, and freshman Sierra Collson, Hornell, NY, Canisteo High School. Teresa Cox, Kaylan Ostrander and Sierra Collson teamed with senior Nichole Franke Gouverneur, NY, Gouverneur High School, to place fourth in the 4 X 200 Meter Relay in a program record of 2:02.51.
The Cobleskill men freshman thrower Nick Weir, Fly Creek, NY, Cooperstown High School, placed fifth in the Shot Put with a toss of 12.58 meters to establish a new program record in the event while freshman Chris Dietl, Norwalk, NY, Norwalk High School, established a new program record in the 500 Meters at 1:09.41 placing second in the race.
Other performances of note: The Fighting Tiger men’s 4 X 200 Relay of senior Greg Farley, Babylon, NY, Babylon High School, freshman Chris Burke, Spencerport, NY, Spencerport High School, freshman Harold Cummings, Port Chester, NY, Port Chester High School, and Chris Dietl placed second in a time of 1:37.73, Harold Cummings was fourth in the High Jump with a 6’0” effort, freshman Eric Adjepong, Wallkill, NY, Wallkill High School, was fourth in the Long Jump at 5.86 meters and third in the 55 Meter Dash at 7.11 seconds, freshman Kyle Robinson Canastota, NY , Canastota High School, was fourth in the Weight Throw with an effort of 12.40 meters and freshman Maverick Kendrick, Yonkers, NY, Lincoln High School, was fourth in the 200 Meters at 24.52 seconds.
Kayla Ostrander turned in a second place finish in the Pole Vault with an effort of 7’0” while Teresa Cox was fifth in the 500 Meters at 1:34.02. The Fighting Tiger s also received strong showings from senior thrower Stephanie Schumann, Washingtonville, NY, Washingtonville High School, placed fourth in the Shot Put at 33’1/2” and senior distance running Rachael Prehna, Stamford, NY, Stamford High School, finished third in the 3000 Meters at 12:36.40.
The Fighting Tigers will next be in action after the semester break when they travel to Kutztown, PA on Friday January 13th for the Kutztown University Invitational. |
