FIGHTING TIGER INDOOR TRACK OFF TO FAST START AT ORANGE & MAROON CLASSIC
The SUNY Cobleskill men and women’s indoor track & field programs busted out to a fast start at the season opening 2005 Orange & Maroon Classic hosted by Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, PA over the weekend. The Fighting Tigers posted a number of program records and high placings in the non-scoring meet.
Freshman Sashoye Wilson, Farmingdale, NY, Farmingdale High School, led the Fighting Tiger women, establishing new program marks placing tenth in the 55 Meter Dash in a time of 7.84 seconds, second in the Long Jump with a mark of 4.83 meters and third in the Triple Jump with a mark of 10.42 meters. Cobleskill also received a record setting performance in the 5000 Meters from senior Emily Bertier, Union Bridge, MD, Francis Scott Key High School, placing fourteenth overall in a time of 21:07.52.
On the men’s freshman Greg Farley, Babylon, NY, Babylon High School, established a new program record in the 55 Meter Hurdles placing seventh overall with a time of 8.20 seconds while placing eighth in the 200 Meter Dash with a mark of 23.61 seconds. Freshman Verdine Connor, Anguila British West Indies, The Albena Institute, set a new program record in the 55 Meter dash placing eighteenth overall in a time of 6.90. Freshman Rob Garnham, Lockport, NY, Starpoint High School, also came up big for the Fighting Tigers establishing a new indoor mark in the Pole Vault with a 12’6” effort to place ninth in the competition.
The Fighting Tiger Relay of Greg Farley, Verdine Conner, senior John Mayer, Hubbardsville NY, Hamilton High School, and freshman Mark Allen, Bellport, NY, Bellport High School, placed third overall in a time of 1:38.65.
The Fighting Tigers will next travel to the Wesleyan College Invitational on Saturday January 29th in Middletown, CT. |
