COBLESKILL INDOOR TRACK & FIELD AT CARDINAL INVITATIONAL
The SUNY Cobleskill indoor track & field program continued their fast start to the 2005 season with an impressive showing at the Cardinal Invitational hosted by Wesleyan College in Middletown, CT on Saturday. The Fighting Tigers turned in a number of top placings and several program record setting performances in the non-scoring meet.
Three Fighting Tiger women’s team members established new indoor records in their respective events. Senior Emily Bertier, Union Bridge, MD, Francis Scott Key High School, broke the program record at 3000 Meters placing twelfth overall in a time of 12:01.81, freshman Rachel Prehna, Stamford, NY, Stamford High School, established a new record in the 600 Meters placing thirteenth in the field with a time of 2:04.30, and freshman Kara Thomas,, set a new record in the 400 Meters finishing ninth with a time of 1:05.32.
On the men’s side freshman Greg Farley, Babylon, NY, Babylon High School, continued his solid rookie season breaking his own record in the 200 Meters with an effort of 23.43 seconds to finish tenth and placing sixth in the 55 Meter Hurdles in a time of 8.29 seconds. Senior Asueruas Thompson, Newburgh, NY, Newburgh Free Academy, also made a strong showing in the hurdles finishing seventh in a time of 8.59 seconds.
Senior Kane Seamon, Richfield Springs, NY, Richfield Springs High School, turned in the best finish in the meet for the Fighting Tigers placing third in a time of 16:24.18 while senior Jamie Julia-Perez, Amsterdam, NY, Amsterdam High School, placed twelfth in the 1500 Meters completing the race in a time of 4:20.46.
Cobleskill also made solid showings in the field events as senior John Mayer, Hubbardsville NY, Hamilton High School, finished tenth in the High Jump with an effort of 5’11”, freshman Adam Kruger, , placed sixth in the Pole Vault with an effort of 11’6” and freshman Jon Slegona was eleventh in the Weight Toss with a mark of 11.54 meters.
The Fighting Tigers will next travel to Hamilton, NY on Saturday February 5th to compete in the prestigious Colgate University Class of ’32 Invitational.
