VILLANOVA NAMED FIGHTING TIGER ATHLETE-OF-THE-WEEK
The SUNY Cobleskill Athletic Department announced today that senior Jennifer Villanova, Clifton Park, NY, Shenendehowa High School, a member of the women’s indoor track & field team has been named the athletic program’s Fighting Tiger Athlete-of-the-Week.
The senior multi-event athlete led the Fighting Tiger women’s indoor track & field team to the first NJCAA Region III Indoor Track & Field Championship in program history as Cobleskill posted a team score of 135 points to win the 2008 NJCAA Region III Championship hosted at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, NY on Sunday. Villanova scored 37 individual points including Region III Individual Championships in the Pole Vault, 2.39 meters, the Long Jump, 4.89 meters, and the Triple Jump, 9.96 meters, to earn All-NJCAA Region III honors in each event. The five-time NJCAA Outdoor Track & Field All-American also turned in individual scoring performances in the High Jump placing fifth with a mark of 1.31 meters while finishing third in the 55 Meter Dash with a time of 7.60 seconds.
The Fighting Tigers will next be in action on Saturday February 23rd when they travel to Ithaca, NY for the 2008 Denault Invitational hosted by Cornell University starting at 10:00 AM. |
