FIGHTING TIGER MEN’S INDOOR TRACK & FIELD COMPETE AT 2008 NJCAA INDOOR TRACK & FIELD NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
The SUNY Cobleskill men’s indoor track & field program placed twenty-eighth in a field of 44 teams at the 2008 NJCAA Men’s Indoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Eastern Illinois University at the university’s Lantz Indoor Fieldhouse in Charleston, IL over the weekend.
The highlight of the meet for the Fighting Tigers was the Distance Medley Relay Team of senior Eric Graber, Troy, NY, Lansingburgh High School, freshman Richard Garnett, Yonkers, NY, Roosevelt High School, senior Carlton Wildman, Huntington, NY, John Glenn High School, and freshman Emille Barnett, Huntington, NY, John Glenn High School, which placed eighth overall establishing a new program record in the event with a time of 10:36.22 to score at the national meet in the DMR for the first time in school history.
Individually, Emille Barnett established a new program record for the Fighting Tigers in the 600 Meter Dash with a time of 1:22.65. The tandem of Richard Garnett and Eric Graber competed in the 1000 Meter Run with Garnett posting a time of 2:38.85 and Graber turning in a mark of 2:40.38. Carlton Wildman also turned in a time of 51.48 in the 400 Meter Dash for the Fighting Tigers at the meet.
Cobleskill is next scheduled to open the outdoor season on Wednesday March 26th at home when the Fighting Tigers will host SUNY Delhi for a non-scoring qualifying meet beginning at 3:00 PM weather permitting.
