FIGHTING TIGER MEN FIFTH & WOMEN SEVENTH AT 2006 NJCAA REGION III INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS
The Fighting Tiger men’s indoor track & field team posted a team score of 48 points to place fifth in a field of seven teams at the 2006 NJCAA Region III Indoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, NY on Sunday February 19th. The Cobleskill women posted a total of 57.5 points to finish sixth in the seven team field at the event.
On the men’s side, freshman Chris Dietl, Norwalk, NY, Norwalk High School, won the regional championship in the 400 Meter Dash in a time of 53.30 seconds and placed fourth in the 200 Meter Dash in a time of 23.50 seconds to pace the Cobleskill attack. Freshman Brian Morrissey, Cortland Manor, NY, Hendrick Hudson High School, was also a multiple scorer for the Fighting Tigers placing third in the Pole Vault with a height of 3.19 meters and finishing fifth in the 1000 Meter Run with a time of 3:00.40.
Cobleskill also received scoring performances from freshman jumper Eric Adjepong, Wallkill, NY, Wallkill High School, who finished fifth in the Triple Jump with an effort of 11.87 meters, and freshman thrower Kyle Robinson, Canastota, NY, Canastota High School, who placed second in the Weight Throw with a toss of 12.35 meters. Freshman Maverick Kendrick, Yonkers, NY, Lincoln High School, also turned in a scoring performance for the Fighting Tigers placing fourth in the 400 Meter Dash with a time of 55.50 seconds.
The Fighting Tiger women were led by senior distance runner Rachael Prehna, Stamford, NY, Stamford High School, who won the 3000 Meter Run in a time of 12:51.50 and established a new program record in the 600 Meter Run placing fifth in a time of 1:56.60 to break her own program record in the event. Freshman Teresa Cox, Bellport, NY, Bellport High School, also scored in multiple events for Cobleskill placing fifth in the Mile Run in a time of 6:50.90 and fourth in the 800 Meter Run in a time of 2:48.80 as did freshman Kaylan Ostrander, Queensbury, NY, Queensbury High School, who finished fourth in the 400 Meter Dash in a time of 1:08.70, tied for fifth in the High Jump with an effort of 1.37 meters and placed second in the Pole Vault clearing a height of 2.28 meters.
The Cobleskill throwing corps also made a strong showing in the meet with senior Stephanie Schumann, Washingtonville, NY, Washingtonville High School, placing second in the Shot Put with a throw of 10.07 meter while senior Ashley Coles, Albany, NY, Albany High School, placed second in the Weight Throw with a toss of 8.67 meters and freshman Beth Conte Herkimer, NY, Herkimer High School, finished third in the Weight Throw with an effort of 8.51 meters. |
