COBLESKILL INDOOR TRACK & FIELD TEAMS POST 3RD PLACE FINISHES AT THE NJCAA REGION III CHAMPIONSHIPS
The SUNY Cobleskill men and women’s indoor track & field teams each placed third at the NJCAA Region III Championships hosted by Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, NY. The men’s program posted a team score of 106 points to finish third in the six team field while the women scored 80 points to bring home a third place finish in the field of six teams.
Fighting Tiger athlete’s captured five individual Region III Championships led on the men’s side by senior Robert Keizer, Manhassett, NY, Manhassett High School, who won the regional championships in the Triple Jump, 6.84 meters, and the Triple Jump, 14.13 meters, and freshman Greg Farley, Babylon, NY, Babylon High School, who won the Pentathlon, 3055 points and the 55 Meter Hurdles, 7.80 seconds. On the women’s side senior Emily Bertier, Union Bridge, MD, won the 1000 Meters in a time of 3:24.20 for Cobleskill.
The Cobleskill mid-distance/distance corps posted several impressive finishes in the meet led by freshman Rachael Prehna, Stamford, NY, Stamford High School, who placed third in the 600 Meters, 2:03.20, and second in the 3000 Meters, 13:37.30. Senior Jamie Julia-Perez, Amsterdam, NY, Amsterdam High School, finished second in the 3000 Meters, 9:23.50, and fourth in the Mile Run, 4:39.30. Freshman Chris White, Fonda, NY, Fonda-Fultonville High School, was fourth in the 5000 Meters, 17:31.30, freshman Jeremias Paniagua, Manhattan, NY, George Washington High School, was third in the 1000 Meters, 2:52.90, and freshman Dan Laube, Chittenango, NY, Chittenango High School, finished fourth in the 600 Meters, 1:31.80.
In the throws, freshman Lindsey Gertenslager, Yorkshire, NY, Pioneer High School, placed second in the Weight Throw, 10.66 Meters, and seventh in the Shot Put, 7.04 Meters, while freshman Ashley Coles, Albany, NY, Albany High School, was second in the Shot Put, 8.78 Meters, and third in the Weight Throw, 8.51 Meters. On the men’s side, freshman Jim Fitzpatrick, Watertown, CT, Watertown High School, placed fourth in the Shot Put, 11.53 meters, and fourth in the Weight Throw, 10.56 Meters, and freshman Jon Slegona, Ellenville, NY, Ellenville High School, was second in the Weight Throw with a toss of 13.01 Meters.
The Fighting Tigers will next compete at the 2005 NJCAA Indoor Track & Field National Championships hosted by Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, IL on Friday March 4th and Saturday March 5th. |
