ZENIR NAMED 2004 SUNY COBLESKILL STEVEN A. WARDE AWARD RECIPIENT
SUNY Cobleskill women’s indoor/outdoor track & field team member Liz Zenir, Summit, NY, Cobleskill-Richmondville High School, has been named the 2004 recipient of the athletic program’s Steven A. Warde Award for sportsmanship. The award was presented to Zenir at the college’s recent annual Athletic Awards Convocation.
The Warde Award is given to the Fighting Tiger senior female student/athlete who by her action on the playing field, in the classroom and in the campus community has exemplified the code of sportsmanship and leadership.
Zenir was a two-time NJCAA Outdoor Track & Field National Championship qualifier for the Fighting Tigers and served as women’s team captain her senior season. As a freshman member of the Cobleskill cross country program the Cobleskill-Richmondville High School alumnus earned All-Mountain Valley Conference honors, Second Team All-NJCAA Region III honors and was a Second Team NJCAA Division III All-American.
The award is presented yearly in honor of the late Steven A. Warde a long-time faculty member at the college who founded the Cobleskill Track & Field and Cross Country programs in 1948 and brought the programs to national prominence highlighted by the 1959 NJCAA Men’s National Cross Country Championship. |
