FIGHTING TIGER MEN’S TRACK RUNS AT WILLIAMS RELAYS
The SUNY Cobleskill men’s outdoor track & field team made the trip to Williamstown, MA this weekend to compete in the Williams College Relays hosted by perennial NCAA Division III powerhouse Williams College. The Fighting Tigers had several notable performances as they continued their drive toward the 2006 NJCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field National Championships.
The Fighting Tiger 400 Meter Relay of freshman Chris Bates, Bronx, NY, Walton High School, freshman Dustin Slingerland, Scotia, NY, Scotia-Glenville High School, freshman Chris Dietl, Norwalk, CT, Norwalk High School, and freshman Matt Czajkowski, Duanesburg, NY, Duanesburg High School, met the NJCAA National Qualifying Standard placing fourth overall in a time of 45.89 seconds.
Cobleskill throwers also continued to impress as freshman Kyle Robinson, Canastota, NY, Canastota High School, improved his national seed by placing thirteenth in the Hammer Throw with a toss of 34.90 meters and senior Mike Craft, Colonie, NY, Colonie High School, improved his national seed in the Discus placing tenth with a mark of 37.02 meters.
Chris Dietl turned in the Fighting Tigers top individual performance of the meet placing seventh in the 200 Meter Dash in a time of 23.43 seconds while senior Dan Laube, Chittenango, NY, Chittenango High School, narrowly missed the national qualifying mark in the 400 Meter Hurdles placing thirteenth in a time of 1:02.65. Matt Czajkowski also turned in a strong showing in the 400 Meter Dash for Cobleskill placing seventeenth overall with a time of 54.10 seconds.
The Fighting Tiger will return to action on Saturday April 15th when they travel to Middletown, CT for the Wesleyan College Invitational beginning at 10:00 AM.
