FIGHTING TIGER WOMEN’S TRACK AT WILLIAMS COLLEGE RELAYS
The SUNY Cobleskill women’s track & field program continued outdoor season on Saturday venturing to Williamstown, MA for the Williams College Relays. The Fighting Tigers maintained their strong drive toward the 2006 NJCAA Division III Outdoor Championships with a number of national qualifying performances.
Freshman muti-event athlete Kaylan Ostrander, Queensbury, NY, Queensbury High School, hit the national qualifying mark in the High Jump clearing a height of 1.42 meters to place eleventh overall while freshman middle distance runner Theresa Cox, Bellport, NY, Bellport High School, qualified in the 400 Meter Dash with a time of 1:06.81 placing thirteenth in the event.
The Fighting Tiger throwing corps put forth the best relay of the afternoon for Cobleskill placing third in the Hammer Throw as senior Stephanie Schumann, Washingtonville, NY, Washingtonville High School, led the way placing eleventh on the day meeting the national qualifying standard with a throw of 28.38 meters. Freshman Beth Conte, Herkimer, NY, Herkimer High School, was twelfth with a toss of 26.32 meters and senior Ashley Coles, Albany, NY, Albany High School, placed fourteenth overall with a mark of 23.20 meters.
On the track freshman hurdler Amanda Aker, Nelliston, NY, Fort Plain High School, improved her national seed in the 400 Meter Hurdles with a time of 1:13.18 in the event. Freshman sprinter Erinn O’Rourke, South Glens Falls, NY, South Glens Falls High School, finished eighth in the 200 Meter Dash, 28.52 seconds, and fourteenth in the 100 Meter Dash, 14.06 seconds.
Cobleskill also had two relay teams meet the national qualifying standards as the 400 Meter Relay of senior Nichole Frank, Gouverneur, NY, Gouverneur High School, Amanda Aker, Erinn O’Rourke, and Kylan Ostrander placed fifth in a time of 55.43 seconds and the 1600 Meter Relay of senior Rachel Prehna, Stamford, NY, Stamford High School, Theresa Cox, Erinn O’Rourke and Kylan Ostrander finished eighth overall with a time of 4:47.57.
The Fighting Tiger will return to action on Saturday April 15th when they travel to Middletown, CT for the Wesleyan College Invitational beginning at 10:00 AM. |
