COBLESKILL MEN’S TRACK & FIELD 7TH AT 2006 REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
The SUNY Cobleskill men’s outdoor track & field team posted a score of 28 points to bring home a seventh place finish at the 2006 NJCAA Region III Championships hosted by Delhi Tech in Delhi, NY. Several Fighting Tiger team members meet NJCAA National Championship qualifying standard at the event to further improve the team’s standing for the 2006 NJCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships to be hosted next week at Erie Community College in Orchard Park, NY.
Freshman distance runner Creig Levens, Berlin, NY, Berlin High School, continued his impressive stretch drive meeting the national qualifying mark in the 5000 Meters placing third in the event with a time of 16:16.40. Freshmen sprinters Matt Czajokowski, Duanesburg, NY, Duanesburg High School, and Chris Dietl, Norwalk, CT, Norwalk CT, also continued their race towards the nationals by qualifying in the 100 Meters. Czajokowski placed sixth with a time of 11.1 seconds and Dietl turned in a time of 11.3 seconds to hit the national qualifying mark.
Cobleskill throwers freshman Kyle Robinson, Canastota, NY, Canastota High School and senior Mike Craft, Colonie, NY, Colonie High School, once again topped the national qualifying requirements. Robinson placed second in the Hammer Throw with a toss of 39.28 meters while Craft finished third in the Discus with an effort of 38.65 meters.
The Fighting Tigers will next compete at the 2006 NJCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Erie Community College in Orchard Park, NY beginning on Thursday May 11th and running through Saturday May 13th.
