FIGHTING TIGER MEN’S TRACK & FIELD PLACES 9TH AT 2006 NJCAA DIVISION OUTDOOR NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
The SUNY Cobleskill men’s outdoor track & field team posted a team score of 27 points to place ninth in a field of 24 teams at the 2006 NJCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Erie Community College in Orchard Park, NY over the weekend.
Freshman distance runner Creig Levens, Berlin, NY, Berlin High School, was the top scorer for the Fighting Tigers placing second in the 10,000 Meters earning NJCAA All-American honors in the event by posting a time of 33:25.29. Levens also placed fourth in the 3000 Meter Steeplechase with a personal best time of 10:10.67.
Cobleskill also received individual scoring performances from: freshman sprinter Chris Dietl, Norwalk, CT, Norwalk High School, who placed seventh in the 200 Meters with a time of 23.14 seconds in the event, freshman thrower Kyle Robinson, Canastota, NY, Canastota High School, who placed seventh in the 38.53 meters and from senior thrower Mike Craft, Colonie, NY, Colonie High School, who placed seventh in the Shot Put with a throw of 39.50 Meters.
The Fighting Tigers turned in additional scoring efforts in all three relay events as the team of freshman John Bates, New York, NY, Walton High School, freshman Matt McCann, Warnerville, NY, Cobleskill-Richmondville High School, freshman Matt Czajkowski, Duanesburg, NY, Duanesburg High School, and Chris Dietl finished seventh in the 400 Meter Relay in a time of 44.4 seconds and placed fifth in the 1600 Meter Relay in a time of 3:29.53. The Cobleskill 3200 Meter Relay of freshman Gilbert Francillon, Bronx, NY, Midwood High School, senior Dan Laube, Chittenango, NY, Chittenango High School, senior Brian Morrissey, Cortland Manor, NY, Hendrick Hudson High School, and senior Peter Williamson, Rocky Point, NY, Rocky Point High School, placed seventh overall in the event with a time of 8:39.59.
