SMITH NAMED FIGHTING TIGER ATHLETE-OF-THE-WEEK

The SUNY Cobleskill Athletic Department announced today that senior Dee Dee Smith, Monticello, NY, Redemption Christian Academy, a member of the women’s basketball program has been named the athletic program’s Fighting Tiger Athlete-of-the Week.

The 5’9” NJCAA All-American forward led the women’s basketball team to an upset win on Thursday over number eight ranked Fulton-Montgomery Community College, 44-41, and a home win over Corning Community College, 64-61, as the Fighting Tigers completed the semester with the best single semester record in program history at 12-1. Smith averaged 16.5 points and 13.0 rebounds for the Fighting Tiger in the victories scoring late put-back baskets off missed free throws in each contest to cement the victories for Cobleskill. The Fighting Tigers are currently ranked second in the latest NJCAA Region III Division III Coach’s Poll.
