COBLESKILL WOMEN FALL TO CAYUGA 54-53 IN SPARTAN HOLIDAY CLASSIC
The SUNY Cobleskill women’s basketball team dropped a 54-53 decision to host Cayuga Community College in the consolation game of the 2006 Cayuga Community College Holiday Classic hosted by the Spartans in Auburn, NY on Sunday. The loss drops the Fighting Tiger overall record to 4-2 on the season.
Once again, as they had in the opening round, the Fighting Tigers fell behind at the half by double digits trailing 36-23 at the break then staged a frantic second half comeback to cut the lead to a single point with five minutes left in regulation. However that proved to be the margin of victory in the contest for the host Spartans as both teams remained scoreless the rest of the way to the final buzzer.
Senior forward/guard Kim Stahl, Scotia, NY, Scotia-Glenville High School, led Cobleskill in scoring with 21 points on the afternoon while senior guard Erinn O’Rourke, South Glens Falls, NY, South Glens Falls High School, pitched in 11 points.
Cobleskill returns to action on Tuesday November 21st when they host the Cougars of Holyoke Community College with tip-off scheduled for 6:00 PM.
