FIGHTING TIGERS FALL TO #2 MVCC 64-46 IN MOUNTAIN VALLEY CONFERENCE PLAY
In the showdown for first place in the Mountain Valley Conference women’s basketball standings the NJCAA Division III number eighteen ranked SUNY Cobleskill Fighting Tigers fell to unbeaten and nationally second ranked Mohawk Valley Community College on the Hawks’ home floor in Utica, NY last night by a 64-46 margin. The defeat drops the Fighting Tigers to 12-4 on the season with a 6-1 league record and ends the team’s season high nine game winning streak. The Hawks improve to 16-0 on the season with a perfect 7-0 record in MVC play.
The Fighting Tigers were led in scoring by senior center Kim McMillen, Greenville, NY, Greenville High School, with 16 points while receiving a solid outing from senior forward Kim Stahl, Scotia, NY, Scotia-Glenville High School, who tallied 11 points on the night. Senior guard Meghan Smida, Cobleskill, NY, Cobleskill-Richmondville High School, also chipped in eight points on the evening for the Fighting Tigers.
Cobleskill returns to action on Thursday January 25th when they travel to Herkimer, NY to meet the Generals of Herkimer Community College for a league game beginning at 7:00 PM.
