FIGHTING TIGER WOMEN EXPLOSIVE IN SECOND HALF TOP FMCC 71-51
Trailing by 36-26 score at the end of the first half to visiting Mountain Valley Conference rival
Fulton-Montgomery Community College last night, the SUNY Cobleskill women’s basketball program exploded in the second half, to pound the Raiders into submission outscoring the visitors by a 30 point margin to record a 71-51 victory. The win puts the Cobleskill overall record at 16-6 to date with an 8-3 mark versus league competition.
“We played two games last night; one in the first half that was a collective effort on everyone’s part to put us in a hole, and one in the second half that was a collective effort on everyone’s part to put us back in control,” said Fighting Tiger Head Coach Josh Suttles. “We came out sluggish and uninspired which may have been the residue of Tuesday’s loss to Mohawk Valley. But at halftime we woke up and it hit us that this game was important because it was a regional game, a game that was important to us because of its seeding implications and because winning this game would mark the first time in program history that we would have swept the season series from them. We talked about all of these things heading into the game and in the second half we collectively went to work at achieving them.”
The balanced well-rounded Fighting Tiger attack was highlighted by senior center Kim McMillen, Greenville, NY, Greenville High School, who scored 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and by senior forward Kim Stahl, Scotia, NY, Scotia-Glenville High School, who scored 15 points, took down six rebounds and passed out two assists.
