SUNY COBLESKILL WOMEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYERS NAMED TO 2006-07
NJCAA ALL-REGION III DIVISION III TEAM

Two SUNY Cobleskill women’s basketball team members have been named to the 2007 All-NJCAA Region III Division III Team by the region’s coaches. Senior center Kim McMillen, Greenville, NY, Greenville High School, was honored as a First Team selection while senior forward Kim Stahl, Scotia, NY, Scotia-Glenville High School, was named to the region’s Third Team. The Cobleskill duo led the Fighting Tigers to a 22-6 overall record on the season and a return to the NJCAA Region III Division III Tournament for the third consecutive season.

“Kim McMillen has played solidly for us both offensively and defensively this season and despite being an undersized post player and consistently playing against taller opponents she’s come through for us,” said Fighting Tiger Head Coach Josh Suttles. “Over the past two season’s she’s been our go to person on the inside and this year her commitment to improving her stamina has led to her playing many more effective minutes for us.”

The 5’10” McMillen proved to be a powerful presence in this post during the season averaging 14.6 points, 10.1 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 1.0 steals per game connecting on an impressive 159 of 316 attempts from the field for a 50.3% field goal shooting mark in 28 appearances this season.

“Kim Stahl has had a much more successful season this year because she’s been able to add more defense to her game,” according to Coach Suttles. “Kim always has been able to shoot the basketball but this year she has been able to improve her rebounding and defensive focus which has made her a far better player..”

Stahl stretched the opposition’s defenses this season averaging 12.7 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game connecting on 55 of 167 shots from beyond the three-point line for a 33.0 shooting percentage in 28 games played this season.

The Fighting Tigers will meet the number five seeded Generals of Herkimer Community College on Friday March 2nd at 3:00 PM in the 2007 NJCAA Region III Division III Championship hosted by Cayuga Community College in Auburn, NY.
