SUNY COBLESKILL ANNOUNCES WOMEN’S BASKETBALL NJCAA NATIONAL LETTER OF INTENT SIGNEES
The SUNY Cobleskill Athletic Department announced today that Gloversville High School women’s basketball standouts two-time First Team All-Foothills Conference honorees Breanne Sauve and Laura Tinsinger have signed National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) National Letters of Intent to compete for the Fighting Tigers beginning in the fall of 2007. The talented duo led the Lady Dragons to the Foothills Conference Championship this past season with a 13-1 conference mark while posting a 15-6 overall record on the season.
“We’re very excited to have both of these young ladies with us next season because coach (Robyn) Chrzanowski does such a great job of preparing players to make the jump to the college level,” said Fighting Tiger Head Coach Josh Suttles. “Breanne should help us solidify our inside game which has a traditionally been a strong point of our program. We try to go out and find players whose games are multifaceted and Breanne is equally capable of playing with her back to the basket as well as having the range to be effective as a face-up shooter. Laura will give us some much needed help on the perimeter playing either the point guard or shooting guard positions which will give us some offensive flexibility. Both of these young ladies are what we need to continue our winning tradition in the future and I have no doubts as to their success on the court and more importantly in the classroom.”
At 6’0” tall Breanne Sauve played inside during her prep career and should see time at both the center and power forward spots for the Fighting Tigers after averaging 12.7 points, 10.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game this past season.
The 5’6” Tinsinger is a combination guard who will be looked upon to fill the void created by the graduations of five Fighting Tiger perimeter players. During her senior campaign Tinsinger averaged 9.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 3.0 steals per game.
The season SUNY Cobleskill posted a 22-7 overall record advancing to the Quarterfinals of the 2007 NJCAA Region III Division III Tournament. During Head Coach Josh Suttles tenure at the helm; the program has posted: an 81-31 overall record, 72.3 % winning percentage, recorded three consecutive twenty-win seasons while making three consecutive NJCAA Region III Division III Tournament appearances. During this time Fighting Tiger players have individually earned: nine All-Mountain Valley Conference Team selections, six NJCAA All-Region III Division III Team awards, three NJCAA Academic All-American honors and two NJCAA Division III All-American awards.
