FIGHTING TIGER WOMEN’S BASKETBALL WINS 20TH BLASTS ACC 91-26
After dropping a pair of conference games to start the week the SUNY Cobleskill women’s basketball team developed a veracious appetite for Timberwolf soundly defeating Adirondack Community College by a 91-26 margin in Cobleskill, NY yesterday. The victory puts the Fighting Tigers season record at 20-4 on the year with an 11-3 record in Mountain Valley Conference play. The win also gave the Cobleskill program its third 20-win season in school history and is the first time the Fighting Tiger women have ever posted consecutive 20-win seasons. Leading at the half 34-20 the Fighting Tigers blitzed the Timberwolves with a 24-to-2 opening second half run from which Adirondack could never recover. Cobleskill thoroughly dominated the second half action outscoring the visitors from Glens Falls 57 to 6 in the stanza to post the victory.
“Anytime you hold a team to six points in a half of a college game you are doing a good job,” said Fighting Tiger Head Coach Josh Suttles. “We tried to speed the tempo up with our defense because in the first half we were just too slow and methodical. This was a good team effort for us today everyone did their job; the shooters shot the ball well, the rebounders did controlled the boards, everyone passed the ball and everyone played defense.”
