The SUNY Cobleskill Department of Sport & Exercise announced today that junior James Conteh (Queens, N.Y., The Patrick School/SUNY Sullivan) a member of the men's basketball team has been named the athletic program's Fighting Tiger Athlete-of-the-Week for the week ending Sunday, January 19th.
The gifted 6'4" forward posted a weekly average of 21.7 points and 2 rebounds while shooting 50 % from the field, 90.1 % from the free throw line and 38.9 % from three-point range. During the week, Conteh scored 25 points in a 94-67 victory over Keuka College while shooting 52.9 % from the field and 57.1 % from three-point. For his encores, the junior posted 19 points in a conference win over Wells College and 21 points in a non-conference loss to SUNY Delhi over the weekend.
On the season the talented junior is averaging 18.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 1.2 assists in 14 appearances while shooting an impressive 47.3 % from the field and a solid 83.3% from the free throw line.Â
