The middle hitter averaged 2.25 kills and 0.70 blocks per set in 21 sets during the week as the Fighting Tigers won three of five matches during the week. It marks the second time this season the California native has been honored with Athlete-of-the-Week honors.
Led by Porterfield, on Wednesday evening the Fighting Tigers defeated Bard College on the road in Annandale-on-Hudson, N.Y., by a 3-1 margin in a non-league match by set scores of 25-21, 21-25, 25-18 and 25-13. Then over the weekend the team the split four matches at a NEAC Divisional Play Weekend hosted by Morrisville State College in Morrisville, N.Y. Cobleskill opened the event by dropping a 3-2 decision to Cazenovia College by set scores of 25-20, 25-21, 19-25, 26-28 and 15-9 prior to losing to Keuka College 3-0 by scores of 25-14, 25-15 and 25-22 then closed the event by defeating Wells College 3-1 by scores of 25-15, 23-25, 25-20 and 25-19 then defeating Morrisville State College 3-2 by tallies of 25-21, 25-15, 25-27 and 15-6.Â
