SUNY Cobleskill Men's Swimming & Diving Sweeps Competition at Utica College Quad Meet

Fighting Tiger Men's Swimming & Diving Sweeps at Utica College


Utica, N.Y.: After nearly two-years pandemic related inactivity, the SUNY Cobleskill men's swimming & diving team opened the 2021-22 season on Friday evening by sweeping the competition at the opening Utica College Quad Meet hosted by the Pioneers at their UC Pool. The Fighting Tigers defeated the host Pioneers of Utica College by a 73-49 margin while also defeating North Atlantic Conference (NAC) rivals the Broncos of SUNY Delhi 78-40 and the Wildcats of Cazenovia College 84-0 to start the year undefeated at 3-0.

The Fighting Tigers swept both the relay events as the team of: first-year Jason Halasy, Brooklyn, N.Y., Midwood High School, senior Dan Mullen, Oswego, N.Y., Mexico High School, junior Zach Walters, West Seneca, N.Y, West Seneca High School, and junior Chris Sypherertt, Laurelton, N.Y., John Browne High School, took the 200-Yard Medley Relay in 1:55.07 and the 200-Yard Freestyle Relay in 1:44.08.

Individually Dan Mullen won the 100-Yard Individual Medley in 1:00.87 and the 100-Yard Freestyle in 51.49 while Zach Walters won the 100-Yard Butterfly in 57.19. Jason Halasy also posted a win in the 50-Yard Butterfly in 27.05.

The Orange & Black will next be in action on Saturday November 13 when they travel to Cazenovia, N.Y. for a triangular meet hosted by Cazenovia College including Herkimer Community College beginning at 1:00 p.m.
