Cobleskill, NY: The Cobleskill Esports teams are off and running in the spring 2022 season. The Tigers have teams competing in several games in the SUNY esports league and various other competitions.
In the SUNY league, the Tigers feature teams in Call of Duty: Vanguard, Super Smash Bros. and Valorant.
Cobleskill is also competing in the College League of Legends competition, which features hundreds of schools and is the largest college sports competition in North America.
The Tigers esports teams currently have a record of 2-5 across all games. Now to take a closer look at the teams in each game.
Valorant
The Tigers have already picked up their first win of the season against Plattsburgh State in a dominate 2-0 showing. The team of
Ryan Hoag (Troy, NY),
Ben Kessler (East Northport, NY),
Conor Flanigan (Troy, NY) and
Katia Santos (Hudson, Mass) worked brilliantly together to take game 1 (13-3) and game 2 (13-2) with ease.
Conor Flanigan was the team's top performer with 27 kills in the first game and 21 in the second game. Hoag chipped in 19 and 22 kills in each game to help propel the Tigers for the win.
They will be in action this Wednesday, February 16
th at 8:00 pm vs. Nassau Community College.
Call of Duty: Vanguard
Cobleskill's Call of Duty team fell to Niagara County Community College 3-0 last week. The team of
Marc Marrone (New York, NY),
Nazaire Odom (Queens. NY),
Trelee Edmund (Bronx, NY) and
Ajani Simpson (Springfield Gardens, NY) couldn't overcome the relentless attacks of the Thunder Wolves of NCCC.
They will matchup against Morrisville State College this Thursday, February 17
th at 8:00 pm.
Super Smash Bros.
This semester the Tigers have three separate teams competing since it's a 1v1 tournament.
David Whinnery (Clifton Park, NY) lost to Stony Brook 3-0 and
Chris Canzoneri (Whitestone, NY) fell 3-0 to the other Stony Brook team.
Whinnery will represent Team A, Canzoneri represents Team B and
James Cerny (New Paltz, NY) is Team C.
They are in action on Thursday, February 17
th at 8:00 pm.
League of Legends
The Tigers are currently 1-3 on the season. They defeated Lambton College 2-0 to pick up their first win of the year and then dropped games to Carnegie Mellon University 2-0, University of Pittsburgh 2-0 and Harrisburg University 2-0.
In the loss to Pittsburgh,
Thomas Durand (Guilderland, NY) was the team's high man. He dealt a team high 6700 damage (27% of team's total damage).
Jonathan Santana (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) had a .67 KDA which was the highest on the team. Other members of the team are
Ainsley Hyland (Staten Island, NY),
Taj Joseph (Brooklyn, NY) and
Chris Canzoneri.
They will be in action every Saturday at 3 pm.
