Cobleskill, NY: The SUNY Cobleskill equestrian team hosted its first Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) event of the season over the weekend at the SUNY Cobleskill Equine Center. The show marked the first IHSA competition hosted on campus, and the Fighting Tigers made the most of the opportunity—earning High Point Team honors, with Skidmore College finishing as Reserve High Point Team.
First-year rider Faith Burfeindt (Millbrook, NY), an Animal Science major, had a standout day as she claimed High Point Rider after winning both the Limit Fences and Limit Flat divisions. Co-captain
Sage Badman, a Fisheries and Wildlife major, was named Reserve High Point Rider with a first-place finish in Intermediate Fences and a second in Limit Flat.
Other strong performances included
Casey Van Nostrand, who placed first in Open Flat and fifth in Open Over Fences, and
Sophia Scala-Palladino, who took fourth in Open Over Fences.
Mackenzie Caldwell earned fourth in Intermediate Flat and fifth in Intermediate Over Fences, while
Erin Hayes placed third in Intermediate Flat. Kennedy Sims posted two fourth-place finishes in Limit Flat and Limit Over Fences.
In the Novice division,
Leta Bernhardt and Amelia Fleischmann each earned first-place finishes in Novice Flat.
Ceilia McFarland rounded out the day for the Fighting Tigers with a win in the Introductory division.
