Mary Irving enters her fifteenth year at SUNY Cobleskill currently serving as the Associate Athletic Director, Senior Woman Administrator and Compliance Director. During her time at the college she has also served as the college’s head swim & diving coach and head women’s softball coach.

As Associate Athletic Director, Irving is responsible for overseeing the fitness center, building operations, and the certification of all staff in CPR and first aid. Irving also serves as the NCAA compliance officer, and an adjunct instructor for the Department of Sport & Exercise.

During her time as the softball coach the Cobleskill mentor assumed head coaching responsibilities in 2008 leading the team to a 7-11 overall record including a 6-6 Mountain Valley Conference mark during the team’s last season of junior college competition. Irving helped lead the program in its transition from the NJCAA to the NCAA level of competition from 2009 through the 2012 season.

A native of Rensselaer, N.Y., Irving graduated from Rensselaer Junior/Senior High School in 1983 moving on to Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, NY where she earned an Associate’s Degree in Liberal Arts & Sciences/Physical Education in 1985. While at Hudson Valley, Irving was a member of the women’s basketball and softball programs.

Irving continued her education at SUNY Cortland in Cortland, NY where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education in 1987. She earned her National Athletic Training Association Certification through SUNY Brockport in Brockport, NY in 1990. Irving would later earn her Master’s Degree in Recreation Administration through George Williams College/Aurora University in Aurora, IL in 1998.

She started her professional career in 1990 at Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, N.Y. as Assistant Athletic Trainer. She moved to St. John Fisher in 1991 as Head Athletic Trainer/Head Equipment Manager and stayed until 1999 when she became SUNY Cobleskill’s Head Athletic Trainer.ÂÂ
