With the cancellation of all spring sports due to COVID-19 leading to the lack of Fighting Tiger Athletes of the week; The Fighting Tiger Athletic Department has decided revisit some of our previous “Athlete’s-of-the-Week” to honor them for their accomplishments.
The SUNY Cobleskill Department of Sport & Exercise announced today that senior Antwan Claxton, Bronx, N.Y., Taft High School, a member of the men’s basketball team has been named the athletic program’s Fighting Tiger Athlete-of-the-Week.
Claxton earned First Team All-North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) honors this season averaging: 18.9 points, 8.4 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 2.4 steals and 1.4 blocked shots per game in 25 appearances. The Cobleskill senior hit on 176-of 314 shots from the field for a 56.1% field goal percentage including 50-of-101 shots from three-point range for a conference leading 49.5 % mark to go with 70-of-93 free throw attempts for a 75.3% from the line.
Led by the senior swingman, the Fighting Tigers posted 16-9 overall record including a 10-6 mark in league action, was named the NEAC Player-of-the-Week for the week of December 3rd, 2019, scored in double figures 23 times this season recording 11 double/doubles in points and rebounds while scoring his 1000th career point.
