ASHLEY KUBAT NAMED SUNY COBLESKILL FIGHTING TIGER ATHLETE-OF-THE-WEEK
With the cancellation of all spring sports due to COVID-19, leading to the lack of Fighting Tiger Athletes-of-the-week; The Fighting Tiger Athletic Department has decided revisit some of our previous “Athlete’s-of-the-Week” to honor them for their accomplishments.
The SUNY Cobleskill Department of Sport & Exercise announced today that sophomore Ashley Kubat, Sloansville, N.Y., Cobleskill-Richmondville High School, a member of the women’s cross country team has been named the athletic program’s Fighting Tiger Athlete-of-the-Week.
The Cobleskill-Richmondville Alumnus was named the North Eastern Athletic Conference’s (NEAC) “2019 Women’s Rookie-of-the-Year” by the league’s coaches. Kubat was the league’s top finishing first-year runner at the 2019 NEAC Cross Country Championships while earning NEAC Runner-of-the-Week Award honors four times during the year.
The Sloansville, N.Y. native helped lead the Fighting Tigers to the 2019 NEAC Women’s Championship by placing second overall in the field of 74 runners by covering the 6000-meter course in a time of 24:53.8. Cobleskill posted a score of 26 points to win the team title by 54 points over their nearest rival at the meet.
