Box Score Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 non-conference decision to visiting Utica College at the Iorio Gymnasium on Wednesday evening by set scores of 25-7, 25-20 and 25-18. With the loss the Fighting Tigers fall to 10-11 overall on the year while the Pioneers improve to 7-12 overall.
After dropping the first set by a lopsided 25-7 tally, the Fighting Tigers jumped out to a 10-1 lead in the second set before the visitors from Utica wrestled control away from the home team to post the win. The third set saw Cobleskill once again jump out to an early 3-1 advantage before being outscored 12-4 in the middle of the contest giving the Pioneers a 13-5 lead from which they never looked back.
Utica junior setter Lora Allen, Dolgeville, N.Y., Dolgeville High School, was the key to the Pioneers win boasting an impressive all-around performance that featured: 26 assists, six kills, three digs and a service ace. Junior middle hitter Laura Homer-Gunther, Sauquoit, N.Y., Sauquoit High School, was also a factor for the visitors with 10 kills and five total blocks on the evening.

Kim Cordova, Oneonta, N.Y., Oneonta High School, who had eight digs on the night.
Cobleskill will next be in action on Wednesday October 15 when they travel to Castleton, Vt. to face Castleton State College in non-conference play beginning at 7:00 p.m. while Utica College will return to the court over the weekend when they travel to Ithaca, N.Y. for the 2014 Ithaca College Invitational hosted by the Bombers at their Ben Light Gymnasium beginning on Friday October 10 when they meet Kings College at 5:30 p.m. and Wells College at 7:30 p.m.
