Oneonta, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill men's basketball team pushed host Hartwick College to the brink before falling by a 67-60 margin on Saturday afternoon at the 2014 Holiday Inn Classic hosted by the Hawks at the Lambros Arena. The loss drops the Fighting Tigers to 1-4 overall on the season while the Hawks improve to 3-2 overall on the campaign.
Trailing 32-29 at the half the Fighting Tigers held a 48-47 lead with 9:47 left in regulation when senior guard
Alexis Nunez, White Plains, N.Y., White Plains High School, connected on a jumper for 15 feet away. However the Hawks responded quickly going on a nine-point run which gave them a 56-48 lead with 6:04 remaining from which they never looked back.
Nunez led all scorers in the game with 21 points to go with five rebounds, three steals and two assists while junior center
Travis Woods, Mount Upton, N.Y., Unatego High School, added 17 points, six rebounds, two assists and a block shot in the contest.
The Fighting Tigers will return to action after Thanksgiving when they host the Gators of Sage College on Sunday November 30 at the Iorio Gymnasium with tip-off scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Â Â
