Box Score Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's volleyball team ended a two-game losing streak on Wednesday evening by shooting down the visiting Raptors of Bard College 3-0 by set scores of 25-11, 25-18 and 25-14 in non-conference action. With the win the Fighting Tigers improve to 8-6 overall while the Raptors fall to 2-15 on the year.
The Cobleskill front line provided the power at the net as junior outside hitter
Brandi Persico, Ravena, N.Y., Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk, pounded out a match high of seven kills to go with nine digs while junior middle hitter
Melissa Spears, East Fishkill, N.Y., John Jay High School, had six kills and two service aces and freshman middle hitter
Alex Worthington, Millbrook, N.Y., Millbrook High School, added six kills and three total blocks.
The Fighting Tiger backline was keyed by senior libero
Kim Cordova, Oneonta, N.Y, Oneonta High School, who had 10 digs and a pair of service aces and by junior outside hitter
Raven Worthington, Owego, N.Y., Tioga High School/SUNY Delhi, who contributed 14 digs and four service aces.
The Raptors were led by senior setter Lexi Cooper, Round Rock, Texas, Lawrenceville High School, posted 14 kills and two kills on the night and by freshman outside hitter Philippine Alba, San Francisco, Calf., San Francisco Waldorf School, who had a team high of five kills along with nine digs. Bard also received a strong outing from freshman defensive specialist Sarah Peskin, Los Angeles, Calf., Beverly Hills High School, with a team high 11 digs.
Cobleskill will return to action on Saturday September 27 when they travel to Fort Edward, N.Y. to host the Badgers of Johnson State College in non-conference play at Fort Edward High School, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Bard will also play next on Saturday when they host the Wildcats of Baypath College and the Bloodhounds of John Jay College at the Stevenson Athletic Center in triangular action taking on Baypath at 11:00 a.m. and John Jay at 3:00 p.m.
