Fighting Tigers Men's Cagers Maul Keuka College 72-53 to Win NEAC North Division

Cobleskill Men Out Muscle Keuka Wolfpack to Capture NEAC North Division Title

Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill men's basketball team mauled the visiting Wolfpack of North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) rival Keuka College by a 72-53 margin on Saturday afternoon to win the NEAC North Division for the first time in program history. The victory improves the Fighting Tigers to 15-10 overall including a 13-4 mark versus NEAC opponents while Keuka slips to 14-9 overall with a 11-6 conference record.

After a cold shooting first half, the Fighting Tigers celebrated "Senior Day" in style as the Cobleskill veterans out muscled and overpowered their visitors from the Finger Lakes region in the second half breaking an 18-18 first half tie on the strength of a 19-for-28, 66.7%, shooting effort from the field to go with a 15-for-22 effort, 68.2%, from the free throw line in the period.

The Cobleskill inside players controlled the paint throughout the contest as senior forward Cortrell King, Brentwood, N.Y., Upper Christian Reading Room High School, posted a double/double to lead the way for the Orange & Black with 18 points and 10 rebounds to go with a pair of blocked shots while junior center Travis Woods, Mount Upton, N.Y., Unatego High School, contributed 13 points and nine rebounds in the victory.

The Fighting Tigers experience in the backcourt was also a major factor in the win as senior guard Alexis Nunez, White Plains, N.Y., White Plains High School, scored 11 points, dished out six assists and made three steals with his backcourt partner senior Bryan Backus, Walton, N.Y., Walton High School, adding seven points and five assists.

Not to be outdone freshman point guard Malik Chambers, West Point, N.Y., James I. O'Neil High School, came off the bench to score 11 points on a perfect shooting performance going 3-for-3 from the field and 4-for-4 from the free throw line.

Cobleskill will next be in action on Saturday February 28 when they travel to Lancaster, Pa. for the 2015 NEAC Men's Basketball Championship Tournament hosted by Lancaster Bible Institute versus the winner of the Gallaudet University vs. Penn State Abington First Round game at a time to be designated later.

Complete tournament information, seedings, and game times will be released by the NEAC via the conference's website at: http://www.neacsports.com/sports/mbkb/index sometime on Sunday February 22nd after the tournament committee has finalized all arrangements.
