La Plume, Pa.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's soccer team closed their 2016 season on an up note defeating the Phoenix of Wilson College 2-0 in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action in a game played at Keystone College on Sunday. With the win the Fighting Tigers close their 2016 season with a 7-11 overall mark including a 3-9 conference record while Wilson closes the year at 2-15 with a 1-12 record in league play.

After a sluggish start that saw the Phoenix dominate the early action the Fighting Tigers scored the eventual game winner in the 16^th minute of play when junior forward Morganne Dick, Johnstown, N.Y., Johnstown High School, scored from 12-yards out on a pass from junior midfielder Sarah Mellor, Schenevus, N.Y., Schenevus High School,

Cobleskill would add an insurance goal in the second half when sophomore midfielder Leigha LaTourette, Downsville, N.Y., Downsville High School, rocketed home a blast in the 57^th minute from 35-yards away to make it 2-0.

Staked to a lead freshman goalkeeper Samantha Springstead, Staten Island, N.Y., Notre Dame Academy, did the rest recording her sixth shutout of the season by making 16 saves on the afternoon for the Fighting Tigers.
