Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's basketball team dropped a 60-47 decision to visiting Morrisville State College at the Iorio Gymnasium in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) match-up on Wednesday evening. The defeat now puts the Fighting Tigers overall record at 7-13 on the season including a 6-8 mark in NEAC play while the Mustangs move to 15-7 overall with a 11-4 conference record.
After leading after the first quarter by a 12-9 margin the Fighting Tigers suffered through a second period cold spell that saw them fall behind at the half by a score of 29-16. Once again turnovers proved to be the Orange & Black's undoing as 20 give-a-ways led to 21 of the Mustangs points on the evening.
Senior guard/forward
Ashley Creighton, Niskayuna, N.Y., Catholic Central High School/Schenectady Community College, led the team in scoring with 16 points to go with four rebounds and three assists on the evening while junior forward
Shelby Preston, Ravena, N.Y., Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High school, added 14 points and eight rebounds.
Preston's 14 point effort also put her in rare company as she became just the fifth Fighting Tiger women's basketball player to reach the 1000 point mark in career scoring with an even 1000 career points to date.
Cobleskill will next be in action on Saturday February 13
th when they travel to Lancaster, Pa. to face the Chargers of Lancaster Bible College in NEAC action beginning at 3:00 p.m.
