Lancaster, Pa.: The SUNY Cobleskill men's soccer team served notice to the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) that they were determined to remain a factor in the league's play-off race as the Fighting Tigers ventured into the land of overtime for the third consecutive conference game this time taking down the host Chargers of Lancaster Bible College (LBC) by a 2-1 margin in league action. With the victory Cobleskill improves to 4-3-1 overall including a 3-1-1 conference record while the Chargers fall to 3-5 overall with a 2-3 mark in league action.
After LBC scored in the 16
th minute to take a 1-0 lead the Fighting Tigers answered in the 20
th minute of play when freshman midfielder
Boubacar Doucoure, Manhattan, N.Y., John F. Kennedy High School, placed a pass on the foot of hard charging freshman midfielder
Mame Amar, Manhattan, N.Y., Liberty High School, who promptly blasted it home to even the contest at 1-1.
The second half turned into a battle for field position and control as Cobleskill put no shots on goal taking only two for the stanza while LBC managed only four shots for the half with only two finding their way to the net.
As the contest moved to overtime session, it was the Fighting Tigers who seized the moment and the victory when freshman forward
Khadim Diba, Manhattan, N.Y., Julia Richmond High School, found himself inside the box with an open shot which he deposited in the back of the net at the 92:15 mark to give the visitors the win.
Cobleskill will next conclude their weekend road trip on Sunday afternoon, September 25
th, when they travel to Reading, Pa. to face the Nittany Lions of Penn State Berks in NEAC action beginning at 2:00 p.m.
