Keuka Park, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's basketball team closed out their annual western New York weekend road trip by dropping a 61-50 decision to the Wolves Keuka College in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) play on Sunday afternoon. The loss drops the Fighting Tigers to 6-6 overall on the year including a 2-4 mark in NEAC play while Keuka improves to 5-5 overall with a 3-4 record versus league opponents.
After trailing throughout; the contest the Fighting Tigers stormed back from an early fourth quarter seven point deficit to cut the Keuka lead to 48-46 on a lay-up by freshman guard
Addy Lawson, Milford, N.Y., Milford High School, with 7:01 remaining in regulation.
With the tide shifting towards the visitors, the Wolves went on a 9-0 run over the next five minutes to go up 57-46 with 1:55 left to play to secure the win. During the run the Fighting Tigers went cold from the floor going 0-for-8 from the field and committing a pair of turnovers.
Addy Lawson led the Orange & Black in scoring with 13 points to go with four rebounds and four steals while senior forward
Shelby Preston, Ravena, N.Y., Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High School, turned in a solid all-around effort with 12 points, nine rebounds, three assists, three steals, and a pair of blocked shots. Senior guard/forward
Ashley Creighton, Niskayuna, N.Y., Catholic Central High School, was also a factor in the game with 10 points and three rebounds.
Cobleskill will return to action on Wednesday January 18
th when they travel to Oneonta, N.Y. to meet the Hartwick College Hawks in non-league play beginning at 7:00 p.m. Â
