Washington, D.C.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's volleyball team traveled to Gallaudet University on Saturday for a pair of North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) matches; taking a 3-2 decision from the Phoenix of Wilson College by scores of: 15-25, 25-16, 25-19, 10-25 and 16-14, then losing to the host Bison of Gallaudet 3-0 by scores of: 25-7, 25-12 and 25-15. With the split the Fighting Tigers move to 7-11 overall on the season with a 2-5 record versus conference opponents.
In the Wilson win, junior setter
Mackenzie Holbert, Sauquoit, N.Y., New Hartford High School/Herkimer Community College, led the way to victory for the Fighting Tigers with 16 assists, 12 digs and three service aces while freshman setter
Kendra Webb, Munnsville, N.Y., Stockbridge Valley High School, chipped in eight assists, seven kills and seven digs. Sophomore libero
Jazmina Syed, Rotterdam, N.Y., Mohonasen High School, also turned in a stellar effort in the win with 17 digs, five kills and three service aces.
In the loss to the host Bison
Mackenzie Holbert had a strong effort with six assists, nine digs and a kill in three sets played.
The Orange & Black will return to action on Tuesday October 17
th when they travel to Castleton, Vt. to face the Spartans of Castleton University in non-conference play beginning at 7:00 p.m.
