Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill men's soccer team dropped a hard fought 1-0 decision against the visiting Nittany Lions of Penn State Berks on Sunday at the Soccer/Lax Complex in North Eastern Athletic Conference action. With the loss the Fighting Tigers fall to 3-8 overall including a 1-3 mark in league action while the Nittany Lions are now 6-5-1 with a 4-0-1 record versus NEAC opponents.
The game was a scoreless tie until the 63
rd minute of play when Nittany Lion freshman forward Brenden Valverde, Birdsboro, Pa., Daniel Boone High School, scored on a weakside header off of the foot of senior midfielder Jon Mercier, Gibsonia, Pa., Hampton High School, which decided the contest. Â
The Fighting Tigers will next be in action on Wednesday October 11
th when they travel to Albany, N.Y. for a non-conference meeting with the Gators of Sage College to be played at the Albany College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences Athletic Complex beginning at 7:00 p.m.
