Williamstown, Pa.: The SUNY Cobleskill men's basketball team took to the road on Saturday to post an impressive 77-52 win over host Penn College in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action. With the road victory the Fighting Tigers move to 4-3 overall on the year including a 1-1 record in conference play while the Wildcats fall to 1-6 overall with a 0-2 record in NEAC play.
The Fighting Tiger defense once again played a key role in the victory generating 23 Wildcat turnovers with the visitors posting a season high of 17 steals which let to 23 points for the Orange & Black. Cobleskill also held the Wildcats to 19-of-58 from the field, 32.8%, including 7-for-23 from three-point range, 30.4%.
Senior guard
Malik Chambers, West Point, N.Y., James I. O'Neil High School, led Cobleskill to the victory with a game high of 27 points to go with five rebounds, four assists and four steals while fellow seniors: swingman
Joel Costello, Middleburgh, N.Y., Middleburgh High School, chipped in nine points, three assists and three steals and forward
Christian Cooper, Gilboa, N.Y., Gilboa-Conesville High School, added nine points, and a game high of 11 rebounds to the team's victory totals.
The Fighting Tigers will return to action on Wednesday December 6
th when they travel to Cazenovia, N.Y. to meet the Wildcats of Cazenovia College in NEAC action with tip-off slated for 6:00 p.m.
