Abington, Pa.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's basketball team opened their final regular season road trip of the year by dropping a 65-60 decision to the Nittany Lions of Penn State Abington on Saturday afternoon in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action. The loss drops the Fighting Tigers to 13-9 overall on the year including a 9-6 record in NEAC play while the upset victory improves the Nittany Lions to 10-11 overall on the campaign with a 8-8 mark in conference action.
In a roller coaster affair which featured seven ties and 10 lead changes it was the Nittany Lions who broke a 60-60 tie with 1:19 left in regulation to claim the victory scoring the last five points of the contest unanswered. Â
Sophomore forward Shayna Rodriguez, Philadelphia, Pa., Archbishop Ryan High School, did the bulk of the damage for the Nittany Lions connecting on a pair of free throws to give the home team a 62-60 with 1:03 to play as part of her 29 point/13 rebound effort. After Cobleskill failed to convert a lay-up on the next possession with 48 seconds left in regulation; Rodriquez beat the shot clock with only 12 seconds left from long range to give Abington a 64-60 lead, from which they never looked back.

Shiann Coons, Albany, N.Y., Bishop Maginn High School/Schenectady Community College, had 15 points and five rebounds in a reserve role while freshman guard
Shaliyah Graham, Bronx, N.Y., Martin Luther King Jr. High School, came off the pines to score 12 points and take down a pair of rebounds. Freshman guard
Addy Lawson, Milford, N.Y., Milford High School, was also a factor in the contest for the Orange & Black with 12 points, five rebounds and three assists. Â
The Fighting Tigers will conclude their road trip on Sunday afternoon when they travel to Bryn Athyn, Pa. to meet the Lions of Bryn Athyn College in NEAC action with tip-off scheduled for 12:00 p.m. Â
