Men's Basketball Falls on Road to Bryn Athyn College 59-54 in League Action

Second Half Comeback Effort Comes Up Short as Fighting Tigers Lose to Lions

Bryn Athyn, Pa.: The SUNY Cobleskill men's basketball team closed out the road portion of their schedule on Sunday afternoon by dropping a 59-54 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) game to host Bryn Athyn College. With the loss the Fighting Tigers fall to 3-19 overall on the year including a 3-13 NEAC record while the Lions improve to 10-12 overall with an 8-9 record in conference action.

After trailing 37-27 at the half and by as many as 13 points in the second half at48-35 with 11:35 left in regulation; Cobleskill mounted a furious comeback effort which cut the lead to a single point at 55-54 with 2:36 left to play on a jumper by senior swingman Brian Jackson, Bronx, N.Y., Global Enterprise Academy. However the Lions defense stiffened from that point on holding the Fighting Tigers scoreless the rest of the way to secure the victory.

Brian Jackson led the Orange & Black in scoring with 15 points to go with five rebounds while junior center Christian Cooper, Gilboa, N.Y., Gilboa-Conesville High School, came off the bench to score 14 pints, grab seven rebounds and block a shot. The visitors also received 14 points from junior guard Malik Chambers, West Point, N.Y., James I. O'Neil High School, and a game high of 11 rebounds from freshman forward Kahlil Wilson, New York, N.Y., The Renaissance Charter School, in his first start of the season.

The Fighting Tigers will next be in action on Tuesday February 14th when they host the Continentals of Hamilton College in non-conference action with tip-off scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
