Fighting Tiger Women's Basketball Opens Year With 65-58 Home Win Over SVC

Lawson and Britton Power Cobleskill to 65-58 Victory Over SVC Mountaineers

Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's basketball opened their 2018-19 campaign at home on Thursday evening in impressive fashion by defeating visiting Southern Vermont College by a 65-58 margin in non-conference action at the Iorio Gymnasium. With the win the Fighting Tigers open the year at 1-0 while the Mountaineers start the season at 0-1.

Trailing 48-43 heading into the fourth quarter the Fighting Tigers rallied to outscore the visitors 22-10 as junior point guard Addy Lawson, Milford, N.Y., Milford High School, tallied 11 points and an assist to pace the Orange & Black to the win. For the evening the Milford, N.Y. native scored 14 points, going 4-for-7 from three-point range, grabbed five rebounds, made three steals and passed out two assists.

The Fighting Tigers also received strong outings from: sophomore guard Monique Britton, Westerlo, N.Y., Berne-Knox-Westerlo High School, with 13 points, six rebounds and four steals, junior guard  Liyah Graham, Bronx, N.Y., Martin Luther King High School, with seven points, a team high 10 rebounds and four assists while junior center Stacey Sprague, Grand Gorge, N.Y., Roxbury High School, added eight points and five rebounds on the evening.     
       
Cobleskill will on Saturday November 10th when they travel to Alfred, N.Y. to meet the Saxons of Alfred University in non-league action beginning at 1:00 p.m.
