Men's Basketball Loses to RPI 78-59 in Non-Conference Action

Poor Second Half Hurts Fighting Tigers Verus Hawks in 78-57 Road Loss


Troy, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill men's basketball team returned to the road on Saturday afternoon traveling to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) falling in a non-league match-up to the host Hawks by a 78-59 margin. With the defeat the Fighting Tigers are now 6-3 overall while the Hawks move to 6-3 overall on the campaign.

After playing the Hawks to a 34-32 deficit at the break; The Fighting Tigers struggled offensively in the second half connecting on only 10-of-29 shots from the field, 34.5%, while hitting on only 3-of-9, free throw attempts, 33.3%, for the half.

Fighting Tiger sophomore swingman Antwan Claxton, Bronx, N.Y., Taft High School, led Cobleskill with 16 points and seven rebounds on the afternoon while senior swingman Dashown Nelson, Brooklyn, N.Y., Telecommunication Arts & Technology High School/SUNY Broome, added 10 points and four rebounds.

The Orange & Black will close out the semester on Saturday December 15th when they host the Saxons of Alfred University for a non-league contest beginning at 2:00 p.m.
