Women's Basketball Suffers 71-46 Loss to Keuka College Wolves in League Play

Fighting Tigers Fall to Keuka Defensive Pressure in 71-46 NEAC Loss

Keuka Park, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's basketball team's North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Championship Tournament prospects took a hit on Saturday afternoon as the Fighting Tigers dropped a 71-46 decision to the Wolves of Keuka College in league play. With the defeat Cobleskill falls to 10-13 overall on the year including a 5-10 record in conference action while the Wolves are now 16-5 overall with an 11-3 record versus league opponents.

Once again playing without the services of leading scorer sophomore guard Addy Lawson, Cooperstown, N.Y., Milford High School, who has yet to clear concussion protocols, the Fighting Tigers came out on fire in the first quarter taking an 18-14 lead as the duo of sophomore guard Shaliyah Graham, Bronx, N.Y., Martin Luther King High School, and freshman guard Monique Britton, Westerlo, N.Y., Berne-Knox-Westerlo High School, combined for 14 points in the stanza to stake the visitors to the lead.

However continuous defensive pressure from the Wolves wore the Fighting Tigers down over the course of the afternoon holding the Orange & Black to only 19-of-66 from the field, 28.8%, to go with forcing 16 Cobleskill turnovers on the afternoon including 14 from the second quarter on to claim the victory.

Shaliyah Graham led the Fighting Tigers in scoring with 16 points to go with five rebounds on the afternoon while Monique Britton finished with eight points, five steals, three assists and three rebounds. Sophomore forward Gabby Muraczewski, Hamilton Square, N.J., Southern Regional High School, also turned in a strong effort for the visitors with 11 rebounds, six points and a blocked shot.

Cobleskill will next be in action at home on Wednesday February 14th when they host the Panthers of Albany College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences in non-league action beginning at 7:00 p.m.
