Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill Department of Sport & Exercise announced today that renovations have begun on the department's Bouck Hall Iorio Gymnasium as part of a campus initiated facilities improvement campaign which will also include renovations to the building's lobby area and the Bouck Hall Theater.

The Iorio Gymnasium portion of the project will include: a new roof, gym floor, lighting system, sound system and climate control system along as well as upgraded internet and video capability. Completion is tentatively scheduled for mid-August 2018.

According to Fighting Tiger Athletic Director Marie Curran-Headley, "This project will have tremendous impact on all facets the department encompasses. We are extremely excited about this renovation project and all it will mean in terms of our intercollegiate teams, our intramural/campus recreational programing and of course our academic course offerings. This project will also be of great help to our recruiting and retention efforts institutionally."

Upon completion of the project Curran-Headley also hinted that the college has some interesting plans in mind in terms of connecting the facility with program stakeholders.

"I can't go into too much detail at this time and at this stage of the project. However we are working on an initiative that I think our athletes, faculty and staff, alumni and boosters are going to find very exciting. We encourage all to follow the project's progress on-line at: http://fightingtigers.cobleskill.edu/ and for our big announcement as we get closer to completion."
