Cobleskill joins SUNYAC

SUNY Cobleskill Set to Join SUNYAC as Full Member in 2026–27

Syracuse, NY: The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) announced today that SUNY Cobleskill, along with SUNY Delhi and Alfred State, has been accepted as a full member of the conference beginning with the 2026–27 academic year.

"We are honored to be joining this prestigious conference that represents the very best of SUNY athletics," said Dr. Marion Terenzio, SUNY Cobleskill President. "Our athletic programs have grown immensely since joining NCAA Division III competition, and we believe this move positions our programs for continued success while strengthening the bonds within the SUNY system. We welcome the exceptional competitive opportunities that SUNYAC membership will bring to our student-athletes, and we're excited to support them as they prepare to take on the competition and embrace new rivalries."

With this move, SUNY Cobleskill will compete in conference play exclusively against fellow SUNY institutions for the first time in school history. The Fighting Tigers will join SUNYAC members Buffalo State, SUNY Canton, SUNY Cortland, Fredonia, SUNY Morrisville, SUNY Oneonta, Oswego State, Plattsburgh State, and SUNY Potsdam beginning in fall 2026.

The announcement builds on SUNY Cobleskill's recent integration into the conference, having joined the SUNYAC as an associate member in men's and women's indoor and outdoor track & field for the 2024–25 season. The institution is also set to join the conference for cross country competition in fall 2025.

"We are honored and excited to join the SUNYAC beginning in the 2026–27 academic year," said Marie Curran, Director of Athletics at SUNY Cobleskill. "This milestone represents a significant step forward for our athletic program and reflects the collective efforts of our student-athletes, coaches, and institutional leadership."

SUNY Cobleskill entered the NCAA in 2008 and became a full NCAA Division III member in 2012. The Fighting Tigers joined the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) in 2020 after previously competing in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC). As part of the SUNYAC, Cobleskill will compete in 14 of the league's championship sports, including baseball, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's cross country, men's and women's indoor and outdoor track & field, men's lacrosse, men's and women's soccer, softball, and women's volleyball.

"Membership in the SUNYAC places us among a distinguished group of peers who share a strong commitment to academic and athletic excellence," Curran continued. "We look forward to the innumerable opportunities this affiliation will provide for our Cobleskill campus, community and family."

Curran also extended her appreciation to the North Atlantic Conference for their years of partnership.

"We are incredibly grateful to the North Atlantic Conference for the years of affiliation, the spirited rivalries, and the enduring friendships we've built along the way. The NAC has provided our student-athletes with unforgettable opportunities to grow, compete, and connect, and we thank the entire conference community for their unwavering support and shared commitment to excellence."
