Fighting Tiger Men's Soccer Battles Host LBC Chargers to 0-0 Tie in Double OT

SUNY Cobleskill and Lancaster Men's Soccer Teams Play to 0-0 Tie in Double Overtime in NEAC Action

Lancaster, Pa.:  In a game that could have impact on the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) men's soccer play-off standings; the SUNY Cobleskill men's team took to the road on Saturday afternoon to battle the host Chargers Lancaster Bible College to a 0-0 double overtime tie in league action. With the tie the Fighting Tigers move to 7-4-3 overall with a 5-1-2 record in conference action while the Chargers are now 9-4-2 overall including a 4-2-2 mark in conference contests.

In a hard hitting affair that featured two of the top defensive teams in the NEAC, with the Fighting Tigers ranked second in the league in goals allowed per game at 0.87 per game and the Chargers ranked fourth at 1.16, neither team could find a way to score versus the others defensive scheme.

The Fighting Tigers played short-handed and eventually two players down, including starting goalie, Rashawn Best, Brooklyn, N.Y., Martin Luther King High School, due to a pair of excessive physical contact yellow cards, for the last 27:01 of the contest including both overtime periods.

Over that span of time Cobleskill was forced to defend seven shots and four corner kicks with freshman reserve goalie John Gergen, Greenville, N.Y., Greenville High School, receiving credit for the tie while making two saves over that period of time.

Cobleskill will return to action on Wednesday October 23rd when they host the Raptors of Bard College for a NEAC contest with kick-off scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
