Port Charlotte, Fla.: The SUNY Cobleskill men's baseball team closed out the 2019 Snow Bird Classic by dropping a 13-1 decision to the Big Red of Denison University on Friday afternoon. With the loss the Fighting Tigers fall to 3-8 overall on the season while the Big Red improves to 12-2 overall on the campaign.
Trailing 2-0 entering the bottom of the fifth The Big Red broke the contest open with an eight run inning as part of a 13 run 17 hit barrage against Cobleskill pitching on the afternoon.
The Fighting Tigers scored their lone run of the day in the top of the eighth when sophomore center fielder
Mitchell Holmes, Dartmouth, Mass., Bristol County Agricultural High School, doubled home freshman second baseman
Joseph Ciatto, Patterson, N.Y., Carmel High School, who had singled. Holmes finished the day 1-for-4 with an RBI while Ciatto was 1-for-3 overall with a run scored and a walk from the lead-off stop.
Cobleskill is next scheduled to be in action on Wednesday March 27
th for a non-conference single game, weather permitting, versus the Pioneers of Utica College beginning at 2:00 p.m.
