Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill baseball team continued their drive towards the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) post-season tournament on Saturday afternoon unleashing a devastating offensive barrage supported by impressive starting pitching efforts to sweep the Wildcats of Cazenovia by scores of 14-2 and 12-2 at Fighting Tiger Field. With the sweep the Fighting Tigers move to 10-12 overall including a 5-3 record in NEAC play while the Wildcats are now 3-13 with a 1-6 record in league action.
In the first game Cobleskill used a seven run second inning to put the game away early as the Orange & Black ripped Wildcat pitching for 14 hits in the contest.
Freshman catcher
Felix Pacheco, Bronx, N.Y., James Monroe High School, was the catalyst offensively for the Fighting Tigers going 4-for-5 at the plate with a double, three runs scored and five RBI while sophomore designated hitter
Jacob Hoffee, Lyndonville, N.Y., Lyndonville High School, was 3-for-4 with a runs scored and an RBI. Freshman third baseman Freank Leger, Bronx, N.Y., All-Hallow High School, was also a factor in the victory going 3-for-5 with three runs scored.
Sophomore right hander
Daniel Wade, Jefferson, N.Y., Jefferson High School, held the Wildcats in check allowing two runs on seven hits over seven innings of work to improve his record to 4-2 overall on the year.
In the nightcap the Fighting Tiger bats continued their assault on Cazenovia pitchers scoring 12 runs on 18 hits in the game.
Cobleskill freshman left fielder
River Sisson, Cobleskill, N.Y., Cobleskill-Richmondville High School, led the team's offensive attack going 4-for-5 with a run scored and two RBI while sophomore shortstop Eddie Garcia, Bronx, N.Y., World View High School, went 3-for-6 with a double, a run scored and three RBI in the victory. The home team also received another solid effort from designated hitter
Jacob Hoffee who went 3-for-4 again with a runs scored and a run batted in.
Freshman
Tim Curtis, Slate Hill, N.Y., Minisink Valley High School, earned the victory to even his record at 2-2 on the season working seven innings while allowing only one run on six hits.
The Fighting Tigers and Wildcats will return to action on Sunday April 14
th, weather permitting, for a solo contest at Fighting Tiger Field beginning at 1:00 p.m.
