Fighting Tiger Women's Soccer Falls in Overtime 2-1 at SUNY Polytechnic in NEAC Action

Late Wildcat Goals Cost SUNY Cobleskill Women's Soccer in 2-1 NEAC Overtime Road Loss


Marcy, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's soccer team suffered a tough loss on the road on Wednesday night falling in over time by a score of 2-1 to the host Wildcats of SUNY Polytechnic Institute in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) play. With the defeat the Fighting Tigers move to 1-7 overall including a 0-3 record in NEAC action while the Wildcats blank 2-2-1 overall with a 2-1 record in league play. 

The Fighting Tigers struck first in the 14th minute of play when sophomore forward Chloe Antalek, Wappingers Falls, N.Y., Beacon High School, scored on an assist from sophomore midfielder Claire DaBoover, Phelps, N.Y., Midlakes High School, to give the visitors a 1-0 advantage.

That goal held up until the 88th minute of play when Wildcat senior Shannon Harrison,  Holland Patent, N.Y., Holland Patent High School, nailed a direct kick from 30-yards out to send the contest into overtime.

In the overtime, Shannon Harrison turned distributor finding junior forward Sarah George, Dolgeville, N.Y., Dolgeville Central School, with a perfect thru ball in the box which led to the game winning goal in the 95th minute of action.

Cobleskill will next be in action on Saturday September 28th when they host the Wildcats of Cazenovia College beginning at 3:00 p.m.
