Fighting Tiger Women's Basketball Defeats LBC 69-61 in NEAC Action

Cobleskill Women Await Word on NEAC Play-off Bid After 69-61 Victory Over Lancaster Bible


Cobleskill, N.Y.: With a potential bid to the conference championship tournament on the line, the SUNY Cobleskill women's basketball team closed their regular season on Saturday afternoon by defeating the visiting Chargers of Lancaster Bible College (LBC) by a score of 69-61 in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action. With the win the Fighting Tigers close the regular season with a 12-13 overall record including a 7-9 mark in NEAC play while the Chargers are now 12-13 overall including a 10-6 record in conference play.

 Leading by three points at 50-47 with 7:03 left in regulation the Fighting Tigers went on an 11-to-2 run that made it 61-49 with 4:08 left in regulation and never looked back as balanced contributions from the Cobleskill starters sealed the victory.

Freshman forward Anna Post, Bovina Center, N.Y., Delaware Academy, led the way posting her eighth double/double of the season with a game high of 15 points to go 11 rebounds. Cobleskill also received strong contributions from: junior guard Nylasia Sutton, Queens, N.Y., Lansingburgh High School/Herkimer Community College, with 14 points and five assists, senior guard Erica Cabrera, Middletown, N.Y., Burke Catholic High School, with 14 points and four rebounds and sophomore TyLysa Martinez, Coram, N.Y., Longwood High School, with 14 points and seven rebounds.

Senior center Gabby Muraczewski, Hamilton, N.J., Southern Regional High School, was also a factor in the win with a team high 12 rebounds to go with eight points.  

The Fighting Tigers will next wait for the NEAC tournament selection committee to announce the league's post-season tournament selections on Sunday afternoon.
